Sigma Tau Gamma-Gamma Xi Alumni
Gamma Xi Alumni Association, Inc. of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, was founded in October 1972 based upon and subordinate to the Constitution and laws of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. The purpose of the Gamma Xi Alumni Association per its original Bylaws encompassed the following:
- To promote social unity and friendship among its members.
- To assist undergraduate chapters in the area as occasion may arise.
- To maintain a directory of all alumni of Gamma Xi and Phi Alpha Psi (Gamma Xi’s predecessor) fraternities, who are eligible to become members of Gamma Xi alumni Association, Inc.
Membership in the Gamma Alumni Association, Inc. is available to:
- Any alumnus member in good standing of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, Gamma Xi chapter.
- Any alumnus member in good standing of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, not an active member of the Gamma Xi under-graduate chapter, or who is not a member of another alumni chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.
From the beginning, the Gamma Xi Alumni Association focused on the purchase of a Fraternity House in 1970 and the adjacent parking lot in 1973. Through the years, various renovations as well as repairs due to an attic fire in 2009 have been major focuses. Alumni working with Active Brothers have undertaken various remodeling and maintenance projects for the House and adjacent parking lot. The Fraternity House continues to be a major focus of Gamma Xi Alumni.
Over the decades, there are now over 700 former brothers of the active Gamma Xi Chapter who are eligible to be a member of the Gamma Xi Alumni Association, Inc. There have been annual, or life-time membership dues paid by the members over various periods of time; these funds were utilized for the Fraternity House, social gatherings, as well as administrative costs related to the Gamma Xi.
Throughout the country, Alumni often connect at various University of Wisconsin-Platteville, WI Alumni Foundation events. Other gatherings are planned by Gamma XI Alumni in advance, whether a luncheon, dinner, or golf outing. These outings tend to be focused on geographical location.
Homecoming each year is a gathering time of Alumni at the House to reconnect with each other. Tours of the House and reviewing memorabilia bring back memories and topics for conversation and reminiscing. Actives and Alumni celebrate Homecoming together. Reunions have also occurred including the 25th, 45th, and the 60th (September 2025). These special gatherings encompass a full weekend with various activities; a special banquet and memorable program
